I think there’s something about writing things down that motivates you forward, so definitely not too early...I can hardly believe we’re hurtling towards December already, so having plans and goals for 2024 seems perfectly reasonable to me! Must make some myself! 🤪

Oh things stick much better with me, or motivate me, or chivvy me along to finish all the tasks on my to-do list, if I write them down. Typing them into Notebook or other electronic system just doesn't carry the same imprinting on my brain.... And yes, the year seems to have shot passed, can't believe it's December on Friday, and there was me thinking I had another full week after this one to prepare for our Art & Yoga Soirée - that certainly got me going!! Good luck with making your plans and goals for 2024 - perhaps we should be accountability buddies!!

I like this post (do we call them posts on Substack? I'm new to it) and found it both interesting and reassuring. No you're not too soon marking up january's planner! I like the look of it - can you tell me what goes on the left hand side? At the mo I use Alice's A4 weekly planner but really like the look of yours.

You have plenty of ticks so it seems like a good year has been had. I'm creeping up on writing a post here but confidence is low in the word department. dont get me wrong, I have plenty to say for myelf but getting it down in an attractive enough form for people to read… hmmmm. Yours is lovely, very natural.

Hi Hazel, I know exactly what you mean about what to call these posts - I vacillate between, posts/newsletter/offerings.....!

On the left hand page, on the days I pop in any appointments/meetings/yoga classes/shopping delivery etc. The small box is for meal planning, which I endeavour to do at the weekend so I don't have to stand at the fridge door and go 'now what?', and the RH box under Studio time is where I put notes about what I want to focus on in the studio plus a note of studio hours - I hope that makes sense.

Thank you - my uni prof once told me that my writing style is akin to how I talk: natural and direct. I would just say 'go for it!' - the more you write, the more you will develop your style and find a way of writing that suits you. And sometimes it does't have to be reams of prose; sometimes, lists or short paragraphs work just as well - or, odd times I have recorded a voice note, especially when out walking, of what I am seeing/feeling. When I re-read my old blog posts, I cringe a little, but then think 'well, I had to start somewhere!'. Best of luck, and I look forward to reading your Substack posts soon! Carolyn

Not too soon! And you've reminded me it's about time I picked up a new book for 2024 as well. There is something both meditative and giddy about gridding out a new book for the year. I also picked up this brilliant habit from Alice Sheridan's group a few years back. I wish I'd begun sooner; it takes away that feeling of ‘where did the year go?!’—in the book is (however briefly) each win or a-ha! moment, each trip or event, and, as you point out, each goal met (or nearly so0. Thank you for sharing this Carolyn!

You're very welcome!Y es, as you say, there is something very meditative about drawing the grids, and an air of optimism and hope. And, yes, as I was looking back over this year's book, there were reminders of wins/trips etc I had forgotten about, such good things to note, as it's all too easy to only remember the losses.... Have fun choosing a new book for next year, Carolyn x
