Hi Carolyn, I totally agree with you on those silly comments. I also don't understand why they do this.Such comments say more about those people than about ourselves and what we do. I had one or two such comments and I just ignored them. I love your new deconstructed florals!. I also have difficulties in getting rid of this wish of always doing a worthy piece. Although I know it's more about the journey than the result, I can't help preferring nice results, and wanting to repeat them although most of the time I can't... Have a lovely start of the week!

Thx Catherine! Ha - the 'worthy' piece. I've found myself chanting away in my head 'You're just exploring, you're just exploring..." But I've had great fun with the pieces I'm not so keen on, cropping and chopping!! Have a great week too! xx

Hi Carolyn,

What a cheeky woman!

As for expecting every "effort" to be a sale I reckon we're all guilty of that. I have a large cardboard box that's stuffed full of torn up work. Often just a small section has something going for it so I save them for when I get the urge to collage. Every so often my husband gets a tidying up moment and he always heads for my box "Are these rubbish?" No they damn well are not! Such is life.

Have a nice day

Carol

Thx Carol! Yes, I have a box full of old work, torn bits etc that eventually get used for collage, or I make cards or book marks out of them, which I pop in when someone has purchased a painting or the such like! Just occasionally, when my small studio is swamped, I'll have a cathartic tidy up!! Have a wonderful weekend, Carolyn

Your deconstructed florals are gorgeous- definitely worth pursuing. I know exactly what you mean about getting tight when you feel you should be working in a certain way, this course certainly came at the right time. It’s a shame you take these stupid criticisms to heart so much. Luckily I can shrug things off, I’m very thick skinned. The fact that your landscapes appeal to so many people means you’re doing something right, and I have enjoyed your little videos of your process, I learn something from them all the time, I’m not a painter at all, working as I do with textiles, but of course I keep sketchbooks and draw and I appreciate it when artists like yourself give their time to show how it’s done. Just ignore them, say to yourself it’s a pointless waste of time stressing over them, these people have stupid little lives and need a kick up the b*m.

Thank you Liza! Yes, as you say, they must lead such sad, little lives!! I've decided I'm just going to carry on painting as I wish, and posting as I wish, and being generous with my sharing - if some people don't like it, or feel the need to leave a negative comment or unsubscribe, then so be it! I'd much rather connect with lovely people such as yourself! And, definitely the course came at the right time - even been experimenting with more colour this morning, which is a big thing for me!! Onwards and upwards!! Have a fabulous weekend!!

I enjoy watching your process and honestly, producing authentic artwork. As for the silly comment, they are showing the world who they are. It certainly isn't a reflection of you.

Happy exploring 🖌️💖
