This was great, Carolyn. Your comments about things not going as you'd like with your art, not putting the hours in and listening to your instincts are just where I am at this year too. I need to work on not beating myself up about it though. I did get started with The Best 90 Days Ever though - so I'm going in the right direction. I'm also watching the new Wolf Hall. It looks like it will be a great romp though Tudor history.

Yes, let's be kind to ourselves Gillian...With my logical head on, I know that giving myself a hard time about it, won't do me any good in the long run - but sometimes, that's easier said than done!! Yes, working through the first chapters of the book - I find just brain dumping all the stuff/ideas so helpful! And yes, enjoying Wolf Hall so far, love that period of history, and for all their faults, the BBC do make great costume dramas!!

Carolyn, honestly sometimes when I read your posts I feel as if I'm reading my own thoughts. The past year has been very similar for me— the stops and starts with my art practice; the need for a tidy work space; the lack of consistency in 'showing up'. This post is a great spark of inspiration— and made me realize it's time for me to get a new Lechtturm for the new year, too. I learned about these books and the genius of blocking the pages to one's own needs from Alice Sheridan's Connected Artist Club. It's definitely not too soon :)

Thx Liz - good to know, in a nice way, that I'm not on my own! Yes, lots of great advice from Alice!! I'm already feeling 'lighter' knowing that I'm getting organised!! Have a great weekend!

Yes, "consistency" and how interesting that the word rose to the surface. I found this very useful and will look up the links. I have so many materials, especially marker pens, that I cannot get on with and yet I keep them, just in case. A clearing of the decks is such a therapeutic thing to do and as my studio is building creative clutter again, you have given me a helpful nudge!

Glad to be of service Deborah. I'm dipping in and out of the challenge, but already, with the parts I've achieved so far, I feel lighter! And I think my computer is thanking me after going through and deleting a load of old emails (confirmation of order shipment from 2017...??) Have a great weekend!

You prompted my conscience and I finished my tax return! Doing such jobs does make you feel lighter and now I may move onto emails ( I have a horrendous number in my inbox...)
